What are custom ad serving settings and variables?

These are additional settings available to the serving code for advanced functionality.

Custom Parameters

You can enter one of the following values, without the quotes, into the "Custom Parameters" field when generating the serving code. For example:

Pass-along Parameters

You can pass a variable into our ad tag and we will pass that variable to the ad. This is useful when the ad displays dynamic content based on certain input. For example, an ad displays today's interest rate for a mortgage loan that need the actual interest rate supplied from outside. Learn more

Special Variables

There are special variables and macros that will be replaced with the actual value when an ad is served.
  • [cachebuster], [cache_buster], or [timestamp] will be replaced with the current timestamp and it can be used as a cache buster
  • [random_number] will be replaced with a random number
  • [referrer_url] will be replaced with the ad request's referring URL in encoded format (if provided by the browser)
  • [referrer_domain] will be replaced with the ad request's referring domain in encoded format (if provided by the browser)
  • [md5_referrer_domain] will be replaced with the ad request's referring domain as an MD5 hash (if provided by the browser)
  • [device_ua] will be replaced with the visitor's User-Agent string in encoded format (if provided by the browser)
  • [device_ip] will be replaced with the visitor's anonymized IP address
  • [device_ip_lat] will be replaced with the anonymized IP's latitude
  • [device_ip_long] will be replaced with the anonymized IP's longitude
  • [device_ip_city] will be replaced with the anonymized IP's city
  • [device_ip_region] will be replaced with the anonymized IP's region/state/province
  • [device_ip_country] will be replaced with the anonymized IP's country
  • [do_not_track] will be replaced with the visitor's Do-Not-Track browser's setting (0 for disabled, 1 for enabled)
  • [ASZoneID] will be replaced with the zone ID
  • [ASAdID] will be replaced with the ad ID
  • [ASCamID] will be replaced with the campaign ID(s), if available
  • [ASAdvID] will be replaced with the advertiser ID, if available
